Route to Harlingen

Notice: Partial Closure of the Oude Ringmuur
Between April 28 and May 28, 2025, drivers may experience disruptions due to construction work near the Oude Ringmuur. The work is taking place between the 'Vlieland/Terschelling' exit and the Noorderhaven exit. Traffic heading to the ferry will be rerouted via the Tsjerk Hiddes sluices to the terminal. Drivers can turn around at the terminal, but short-term parking will temporarily be unavailable. For dropping off or picking up passengers, parking spaces are available at Nieuwe Willemskade and Nieuwe Vissershaven, both within walking distance of the terminal. Passengers with limited mobility can still be dropped off directly in front of the terminal.

Are you travelling to Harlingen soon? Because you are visiting our port city, or because you are travelling on to Terschelling or Vlieland? Our renovated parking facilities are the perfect starting point for starting your outing or holiday. Here you will find all the information you need for a carefree trip to our port city. Be well prepared and leave your cares at home.

Visit the islands

If you’re travelling to Harlingen to visit the islands, road signs will show you the way to our parking facilities. A shuttle bus runs from these locations and runs in line with the times of the ferry service. In high season, around the holidays and during events, we recommend leaving a little earlier than usual. Because the bridges in the city centre are often open, we recommended following the signs and driving around – via Midlum. This prevents a mad rush and gives you time to enjoy a relaxed start to your holiday.
