Zeehuisje Wachter
Tiny house with seaview
The lighthouse keeper stands as a bronze statue at the door. Finally, we can welcome guests to the cottage he left behind long ago. It has now become a small museum. With comfort that the lighthouse keeper could only dream of. Everything is provided, for a day, a weekend, or a week. From the living floor, you have a view for kilometers over the Wadden Sea. It leaves you speechless.
With Seaview
In the tiny house 'Guardian', you don't have the height of the lighthouse or the harbor crane. Yet, here too, the fascinating contrast between the historic city and the ever-changing Wadden Sea is intensely felt. The sheltered garden also makes being outside a joy. The meticulously designed interior embraces and protects you from the elements.

Everything Provided
On the ground floor, you will find a generously equipped kitchen, a tasteful sleeping area, a modern bathroom, and a cozy dining table. Everything is set up for two people. A narrow staircase leads to the intimate upper floor with a spacious sitting and lying bench. A large window offers a view of the lively harbor of Harlingen and beyond to the Pollendam, the waterway to the Wadden Islands.
History
The lighthouse keeper was an enthusiastic collector. Daily fascinated by the centuries-old history of Harlingen. His cottage was built on the remains of the Bolwerk, the medieval defense work around the old city. The stone balls in the showcase next to the bed were found during excavation work. The same goes for the earthenware in the kitchen showcase. Everything in the cottage breathes history.
A Fairy Tale
Connoisseurs of Harlingen will think: Did the lighthouse keeper live there? I never knew that. Well, we actually don't know either. The cottage served as a workshop for the large house next door in recent decades. We have worked on the extensive transformation with a lot of love for two years.
The bronze statue was specially made for this place by the acclaimed artist Ilse Oelbers. As a tribute to the men who watched over the coastal light of Harlingen over the years. The artworks and archaeological finds in the cottage have been loaned to the municipal museum Het Hannemahuis.
