Al Galidi, “Wandeling door Harlingen”
Rodaan Al Galidi (1971) is a poet originally from Iraq who applied for asylum in 1998. He was placed in the Harlingen asylum seekers’ center and only received a residence permit in 2007. The literary poem “Wandeling door Harlingen” is from his second poetry collection De fiets, de vrouw en de liefde (2002) and describes how difficult it can be to make contact as an outsider.
