Kaats Museum

Hjir rekket de bal it hert, Here the ball touches the heart. The Kaats Museum in Franeker is the oldest museum in the Netherlands devoted to one sport.

The permanent display traces the history of kaatsen, while changing exhibitions highlight remarkable players, clubs and related themes. Opened in 1972, the museum has since moved to a larger building in the centre of Franeker, close to the sacred grass of the Sjukelân.
